Nvidia’s Jensen Huang, AMD’s Lisa Su Join Tsinghua SEM Advisory Board

The advisory board seats are symbolic, but the symbolism cuts both ways: two of the most consequential figures in AI compute are formalizing ties to a Chinese academic institution at a moment when export controls and talent flows are politically charged. It matters less for Nvidia's or AMD's China business than as a signal of where elite technical and economic networks still overlap. Whether such appointments remain routine or attract policy scrutiny is the open question.
