Sources & Licensing

1. Content sources

Platform content falls into five categories: original reporting, licensed third-party content, contributions from resident authors and organisations, fair excerpting of public information, and translation of overseas news.

  1. Original content: news flashes, in-depth reports, industry research, market analysis and features independently reported, researched, written and edited by the Platform's editorial staff, reporters and analysts. Copyright in all such text, charts and data interpretation belongs to TREE NEWS.
  2. Licensed third-party content: the Platform has signed formal content licence agreements with financial media, industry organisations and overseas news outlets, obtaining the right of communication through information networks to publish, translate and display their content within the Platform. All republished and translated content is lawfully licensed by the rights holder and is published with the source and original author credited.
  3. Contributions from resident authors and organisations: industry experts, organisations and columnists publish columns, opinion and articles on the Platform. Contributors warrant that they hold full copyright, and by contributing grant the Platform the right to communicate, edit, compile and display the work through this product and its distribution channels. Copyright remains with the original author; the Platform holds the right to publish and use the work.
  4. Fair excerpting of public information: some items are drawn from publicly accessible news, official announcements and public press events, excerpted to a reasonable extent in accordance with copyright law, with the original source credited on the page.
  5. User-generated content: intellectual property in opinions and comments posted by users in the comments and community sections belongs to the user who posted them. By posting, the user grants the Platform a free, non-exclusive, sublicensable, worldwide right to use, display and compile the content solely for the operation of the Platform's services.

Note: news and analysis published by the Platform is industry information for reference only and does not constitute investment advice.

2. Republication and licensing

  1. Platform original content: without our formal written authorisation, no organisation or individual may republish, excerpt, mirror or scrape it for commercial purposes. Non-commercial republication must retain the full text, the full source attribution and the link to the original, and must not alter the headline or cut the text.
  2. Licensed third-party content: copyright belongs to the original rights holder. Further republication requires permission from the original rights holder; the Platform is not able to sublicense.
  3. Any organisation wishing to quote or use Platform content must apply by email to tree@treenews.cn and may use the content only after receiving written permission. The request form is in the Annex to the Copyright & Reprints notice.

3. Copyright objections (notice-and-takedown)

If you are a copyright holder and find that a work in which you hold copyright is being used on the Platform without permission, please send a copyright complaint to tree@treenews.cn with proof of ownership, the link to the work, a screenshot of the infringing page, identity documents and contact details. On receipt of valid material we will promptly verify it and take down the allegedly infringing content. The full procedure is in Article 7 of the Copyright & Reprints notice.

4. Disclaimer

  1. Content supplied by third parties, resident authors and users represents the personal views of the author only and not the position of the Platform. The Platform does not give an absolute guarantee of the truthfulness or accuracy of third-party content.
  2. The Platform provides an information display service only. Where a third-party contribution gives rise to a copyright dispute, the party that submitted the content bears full legal liability.
