Reddit to End RSS Support on Nov 13, Public API Slated to Close in March 2027

Reddit is effectively reclassifying open distribution channels as abuse vectors, a framing that will resonate across platforms where scraping and AI training have made public data a liability. The near-term impact falls on smaller developers and researchers who relied on RSS and the free API tier, while the Developer Platform becomes the only sanctioned path. The open question is whether this tightening spreads to other consumer platforms, and whether the gap left by RSS and the public API gets filled by unofficial or paid alternatives.
