Ripple and XRPL Foundation Launch XRP Asia in Singapore to Drive APAC Ecosystem Growth

Ripple and the XRP Ledger Foundation have jointly launched XRP Asia, a Singapore-based organization led by former Hedera executive Sabrina Tachdjian, to accelerate XRPL ecosystem growth across Asia-Pacific through developer training, hackathons, startup support, and investor connections. The move reflects intensifying competition for institutional blockchain adoption in the region.

Ripple and XRPL Foundation Launch XRP Asia in Singapore to Drive APAC Ecosystem Growth

Ripple and the XRP Ledger Foundation (XRPLF) have jointly established a new organization, XRP Asia, headquartered in Singapore, aimed at accelerating development of the XRP Ledger (XRPL) ecosystem across the Asia-Pacific region. The initiative will be led by Sabrina Tachdjian, formerly head of Asia-Pacific and fintech/payments business at the Hedera Foundation. XRP Asia will support developer training, hackathons, partner programs, startup support, and ecosystem events, while also connecting infrastructure service providers, incubation and grant programs, and investors with ecosystem partners.

A Strategic Bet on Asia-Pacific

The move reflects a broader recognition that Asia-Pacific has become the most active region for blockchain payments and tokenization experimentation. Singapore, with its progressive but structured regulatory framework under the Monetary Authority of Singapore, offers a natural base for an organization seeking to bridge institutional finance and public blockchain infrastructure. Japan, South Korea, and Southeast Asia have all seen rising interest in XRPL-based payment corridors and tokenized real-world assets.

By creating a dedicated regional entity, Ripple and XRPLF are signaling that ecosystem growth requires localized execution — not just global developer relations. Tachdjian’s background at Hedera, where she worked on enterprise and financial institution engagement, suggests XRP Asia will prioritize enterprise adoption and payment-focused use cases alongside grassroots developer activity.

What XRP Asia Actually Does

  • Developer enablement: Training, hackathons, and technical resources to grow the pool of XRPL builders in the region.
  • Partner and startup support: Programs to connect early-stage projects with infrastructure providers, incubators, and grant funding.
  • Investor and ecosystem linkage: Facilitating connections between capital providers and XRPL-native ventures.
  • Ecosystem events: Regional conferences and meetups to sustain community momentum.

Competitive Context and Implications

The XRPL has long positioned itself as a settlement layer for cross-border payments, competing with Stellar, Hedera, and increasingly with stablecoin rails on Ethereum and Solana. Asia-Pacific is a critical battleground: remittance corridors, trade finance, and central bank digital currency pilots are all active in the region. A dedicated organization with local leadership could help XRPL capture institutional mindshare that global teams struggle to maintain.

It also comes as Ripple continues to expand its payment business following the resolution of its long-running legal dispute with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. With regulatory clarity improving in the U.S., Ripple can devote more resources to international expansion — and Asia is the logical frontier.

Forward-Looking Perspective

The success of XRP Asia will depend on measurable outcomes: the number of active developers, the volume of enterprise integrations, and whether grant and incubation programs produce durable projects rather than short-lived pilots. If it can replicate the model of regional ecosystem funds that have worked in other chains, it could meaningfully deepen XRPL’s footprint in the world’s fastest-growing blockchain market. The appointment of a seasoned foundation executive is a credible first step, but execution over the next 12–24 months will determine whether XRP Asia becomes a genuine growth engine or another well-intentioned industry body.
