X Layer Q3 Report: TradeZone Processes 287M Transactions, DeFi TVL Doubles to $173.4M

X Layer's Q3 2026 report reveals TradeZone processed 287 million transactions, EVM daily transactions surged 262%, and DeFi TVL doubled to $173.4 million. Application fee revenue jumped 490%, while OKB market cap rose 53.8% to $2.54 billion, signaling growing ecosystem momentum.

X Layer Q3 Report: TradeZone Processes 287M Transactions, DeFi TVL Doubles to $173.4M

X Layer, the Ethereum-compatible Layer 2 network developed by OKX, reported a significant surge in on-chain activity and DeFi ecosystem growth in the third quarter of 2026. The network’s TradeZone processed approximately 287 million transactions, 2.6 times the volume of EVM transactions during the same period. Daily average EVM transactions rose 262% quarter-over-quarter to 1.22 million, while total value locked (TVL) in DeFi doubled to $173.4 million. Fee revenue from ecosystem applications soared 490% to $1.86 million, and the market capitalization of OKB, the exchange’s native token, increased 53.8% to $2.54 billion.

TradeZone Leads Activity, EVM Growth Accelerates

The data highlights X Layer’s dual-engine strategy: a high-throughput TradeZone for exchange-style transactions and a growing EVM environment for decentralized applications. The 287 million TradeZone transactions underscore demand for low-cost, high-speed settlement, likely driven by trading bots, arbitrageurs, and retail users migrating from centralized exchanges. Meanwhile, the 262% jump in EVM transactions signals that developers and users are increasingly engaging with smart contracts on the network, a key indicator of organic ecosystem health.

DeFi TVL Doubles as Fee Revenue Surges

The doubling of TVL to $173.4 million, coupled with a 490% increase in application fee revenue, suggests that capital is not only entering the ecosystem but also being actively utilized. This growth likely stems from a combination of incentive programs, new protocol launches, and the network’s integration with OKX’s broader trading infrastructure. The surge in fee revenue indicates that applications are generating real economic activity, a positive sign for long-term sustainability.

OKB Market Cap Rises 53.8%

The 53.8% quarter-over-quarter increase in OKB’s market capitalization to $2.54 billion reflects growing confidence in the OKX ecosystem. As the native token of the exchange and its associated chains, OKB benefits from increased utility and demand driven by network activity. The report notes that with the development of Exchange OS, X Layer is gradually forming a full-stack trading system covering on-chain trading and DeFi applications.

Implications and Outlook

X Layer’s Q3 performance positions it as a rising contender in the competitive Layer 2 landscape. By combining a high-performance TradeZone with an EVM-compatible environment, the network aims to bridge centralized exchange liquidity with decentralized finance. However, sustaining this growth will require continued developer adoption, robust security, and differentiation from other L2s. The report’s emphasis on Exchange OS suggests that OKX is betting on a vertically integrated stack—from exchange to chain to DeFi—to capture a larger share of the evolving crypto trading market. If X Layer can maintain its momentum, it could become a significant hub for both retail and institutional users seeking efficient on-chain trading and yield opportunities.
