NEAR Co-Founder Illia: Building a Universal Layer to Aggregate Any Trading Intent

NEAR co-founder Illia reveals that NEAR Intents now aggregates trading across Nasdaq and NYSE, while post-quantum security goes live on mainnet. The intent-based layer aims to unify crypto and traditional markets, with Near.com providing privacy and liquidity.

NEAR Intents Expands to Traditional Markets with Quantum-Resistant Security

NEAR co-founder Illia Polosukhin has outlined a vision for NEAR Intents as a universal transaction aggregation layer that uses intent-based architecture to find the best counterparties across any network. The system has already expanded beyond crypto into real-world markets, including Nasdaq and NYSE. This marks a significant step toward bringing chain abstraction into traditional asset trading.

From Crypto to Wall Street

NEAR Intents allows users to express a desired trade outcome—an “intent”—without specifying the execution path. Solvers compete to fill that intent at the best price across multiple venues. By integrating with major stock exchanges, NEAR is positioning itself as a meta-market that aggregates liquidity from both decentralized and centralized sources. The companion platform Near.com provides liquidity and privacy-focused trading, while assets like Quantus are reportedly showing strong liquidity on SafeTrade.

Quantum-Resistant Security Goes Live

In a parallel development, NEAR has launched post-quantum security on its mainnet. The Meteor wallet now offers a one-click upgrade to quantum-resistant keys, and accounts can hold multi-chain assets while keeping public keys private. This proactive approach addresses growing concerns about quantum computing threats to blockchain security.

Implications for Cross-Chain Collaboration

NEAR’s intent-centric model could reduce fragmentation in DeFi and TradFi by abstracting away chains and venues. However, challenges remain: regulatory clarity for tokenized stocks, solver decentralization, and user adoption. If successful, NEAR Intents could become a foundational layer for interoperable asset trading, enhancing liquidity aggregation and cross-chain cooperation.

Forward Look

The convergence of intent-based trading and real-world assets is a trend to watch. NEAR’s move into traditional markets signals that blockchain infrastructure is maturing beyond crypto-native use cases. As quantum resistance becomes standard, NEAR may attract institutional users seeking secure, private, and efficient cross-market execution.
