TREE NEWS update: Apple plans to unveil 14-inch and 16-inch touchscreen MacBooks on Wednesday, with the 14-inch model priced at $2,899 and the 16-inch at least $3,399, making them the company’s most expensive laptops. The pricing was discussed ahead of the launch.
Apple’s Touchscreen Mac to Be Its Priciest Laptop, Priced from $2,899

The pricing carries more weight than the touchscreen itself: Apple is placing these Macs at the top of its laptop range rather than treating touch as a mainstream feature. That positioning matters for premium PC buyers and for rivals who have long offered touch at lower price points. Whether the premium holds once the devices reach users, and whether touch becomes a standard part of the Mac lineup or stays a halo feature, is the open question worth watching.
