TREE NEWS update: China’s Ministry of Education announced at a press conference that the country has 18.7 million teachers. The 42nd Teacher Day, themed “Promoting the Spirit of Educators, Building Respect for Teachers,” will be celebrated. The ministry expanded the National Excellent Teacher Program to attract more top universities, and the first cohort of 9,300 graduates from the Excellent Teacher Plan are now teaching in underdeveloped counties and western border regions.
