China MIIT: Start 6G Commercial Use in Due Course

China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) issued its 15th Five-Year Plan for the information and communication industry, outlining steps to evolve urban and hotspot networks to ‘dual 10-gigabit’ capabilities. The plan calls for deepening 5G coverage in key scenarios, extending 5G-Advanced networks to all county-level urban areas and key townships, and enabling peak rates of 10Gbps downlink and 1Gbps uplink in urban hotspots. It also plans to start 6G commercial use in due course and expand pilot construction of 10-gigabit optical networks.
