US Treasury seen buying up to $10B per buyback after expansion plan

Wall Street rate strategists expect the US Treasury to raise the size of its long-dated debt buybacks to as much as $10 billion per operation. Morgan Stanley strategists said that under current cash balance management policy, each of the remaining seven operations this quarter could reach that cap, assuming no additional short-term bill issuance. The Treasury announced in August plans to at least double the scale of its long-term buyback program.
