TREE NEWS update: Researchers at the Institute of Electrical Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences, led by Ma Yanwei, have developed a ‘solvation-disrupting electrolyte’ for lithium-ion capacitors. Using gamma-valerolactone as the main solvent, lithium difluoro(oxalato)borate as the salt, and ethyl acetate as a modulator, the electrolyte achieves an energy density 8.9 times that of conventional electrolytes at low temperatures, advancing high-power energy storage in cold conditions.
