TREE NEWS update: China’s consumer price index (CPI) rose 0.8% year-on-year in August, up 0.3 percentage points from July, driven by a wider energy price increase. Energy prices surged 4.1% from a year earlier, up from 0.6% in July, contributing about 0.28 percentage points to the CPI. Gasoline prices climbed 9.3%, accelerating by 8.3 percentage points.
