DEX Tokens Outperform as Raydium Jumps 22%, While VeChain Slides 9.7%

Raydium, Jupiter and Aerodrome led top-100 gainers as capital rotated into fee-generating DEX tokens, while VeChain dropped 9.68% amid a broader retreat in legacy enterprise-focused layer-1s.

DeFi Tokens Lead the Top-100 Gainers Board

Raydium’s native token RAY surged 22.57% to $1.63, the strongest performance among the 100 largest cryptocurrencies by market capitalization. The move anchored a broad-based rally in decentralized exchange and Solana-ecosystem tokens: Pons (PONS) climbed 18.77% to $0.6573, Jupiter (JUP) rose 11.14% to $0.2517, NEAR Protocol (NEAR) gained 10.41% to $2.69, and Aerodrome Finance (AERO) advanced 9.80% to $0.6115.

On the losing side, VeChain (VET) fell 9.68% to $0.007484, leading a short list of decliners that also included World Liberty Financial (WLFI), down 6.07% at $0.05304, Algorand (ALGO), down 3.90% at $0.09413, Midnight (NIGHT), down 2.74% at $0.02156, and Kaspa (KAS), down 2.48% at $0.03614.

Why the DEX Complex Is Outperforming

The concentration of gains in automated market maker (AMM) and aggregator tokens is not random. Raydium, Jupiter and Aerodrome all sit at the point where trading volume converts directly into protocol revenue, and their tokens carry fee-capture or vote-escrow mechanics that make them sensitive to on-chain activity rather than broad beta. When spot volatility picks up, order flow migrates on-chain, and these tokens re-rate faster than large-cap layer-1s.

  • Raydium (RAY): the dominant Solana AMM, benefiting from concentrated liquidity deployments and memecoin turnover.
  • Jupiter (JUP): Solana’s leading swap aggregator, whose routing volume is a direct proxy for retail activity.
  • Aerodrome (AERO): Base’s central liquidity hub, where veAERO emissions control where stablecoin and LST liquidity lands.
  • NEAR (NEAR): a layer-1 with an AI-adjacent narrative that has repeatedly traded as a high-beta proxy during risk-on rotations.

The Weak Side: VET and the Legacy L1 Trade

VeChain’s decline stands out because it lacks an obvious catalyst. VET has long positioned itself as an enterprise supply-chain ledger, a narrative that depends on corporate adoption cycles rather than DeFi throughput. In a session where capital is chasing fee-generating protocols, enterprise-focused chains with limited on-chain activity tend to be funding sources rather than destinations. WLFI’s 6% drop is consistent with the token’s pattern of trading on political and governance headlines rather than fundamentals, leaving it exposed when attention shifts.

What to Watch

The divergence between DEX tokens and legacy layer-1s is the cleanest signal in today’s tape: the market is paying for cash flows, not for whitepapers. If Solana and Base activity holds, RAY, JUP and AERO could extend, but these tokens are also the first to unwind when volume normalizes. For VET, ALGO and KAS, the burden of proof remains real usage — until then, rallies are likely to be sold.
