Deadstock Raises $2.5M Seed Round Led by Bullish Capital to Tokenize Trading Cards

Deadstock, an Arbitrum-based tokenized collectibles market, raised $2.5 million in seed funding led by Bullish Capital. The platform aims to bring liquidity to the trading card market through physical inventory, tokenization and redemption infrastructure.

Deadstock Secures $2.5M to Build On-Chain Liquidity for Physical Collectibles

Deadstock, a tokenized collectibles liquidity market built on Arbitrum, has closed a $2.5 million seed funding round led by Bullish Capital, the venture arm of crypto exchange Bullish. A group of angel investors also participated. The capital will fund the platform’s public beta launch and accelerate its next phase: building infrastructure for the globally traded collectible card market.

Created by ATH Labs, Deadstock combines physical inventory, tokenization, marketplace trading and redemption infrastructure to make traditionally illiquid collectibles easier to hold and trade. The platform is designed as an on-chain market and liquidity layer for real-world collectibles, starting with trading cards.

Why Tokenizing Trading Cards Matters

The trading card market — spanning sports cards, Pokémon, Magic: The Gathering and other collectibles — is estimated to be worth tens of billions of dollars globally. Yet it remains hampered by fragmented liquidity, opaque pricing, physical custody challenges and slow settlement. Tokenization offers a path to fractional ownership, 24/7 trading and composability with DeFi rails.

Deadstock’s approach is notable because it doesn’t treat tokenization as an end in itself. By integrating physical inventory with on-chain markets and a redemption mechanism, it aims to close the loop between digital tokens and the underlying assets. That redemption layer is critical: without a credible path to take physical delivery, tokenized collectibles risk becoming purely speculative instruments disconnected from the real market.

Bullish Capital’s Strategic Bet

Bullish Capital’s lead investment signals growing institutional interest in real-world asset (RWA) tokenization beyond traditional finance instruments like Treasuries and private credit. Collectibles represent a consumer-facing frontier for RWA, one where crypto-native infrastructure can solve genuine pain points around provenance, custody and liquidity.

Arbitrum as the base layer also makes sense: low fees and high throughput are essential for a marketplace that may handle high-frequency trading of relatively low-value individual cards. The choice reflects a broader trend of RWA projects gravitating toward Ethereum Layer 2s for scalability without sacrificing security.

Forward-Looking Perspective

Deadstock enters a competitive but underdeveloped niche. Rival efforts in tokenized collectibles have struggled with regulatory ambiguity, custody economics and thin secondary markets. The platform’s success will depend on whether it can attract enough physical inventory and trading volume to create a self-sustaining liquidity flywheel.

If it works, Deadstock could serve as a blueprint for tokenizing other illiquid physical assets — from sneakers to wine to art. The $2.5 million seed round is small, but the public beta will be the real test of whether tokenized collectibles can move from novelty to genuine market infrastructure.
