WisdomTree Taps MoonPay to Expand US Tokenized Fund Access via LayerZero and Chainlink

WisdomTree partners with MoonPay to expand access to its tokenized US fund WIDLY, using LayerZero and Chainlink CCIP to enable fiat on-ramps and cross-chain interoperability. The move targets RWA's fiat on/off-ramp friction and signals deeper TradFi-DeFi convergence.

WisdomTree and MoonPay Partner to Bridge Fiat and Tokenized Funds

WisdomTree has announced a partnership with crypto payment gateway MoonPay to broaden access to its US-regulated digital funds. The collaboration leverages cross-chain interoperability protocols LayerZero and Chainlink CCIP to promote the WisdomTree USD Institutional Digital Liquidity Fund (WIDLY), the first Ethereum-based exchange-traded share tokenized fund. The fund offers crypto users a low-risk investment vehicle with characteristics of USD cash equivalents.

Solving the Fiat On-Ramp Bottleneck

By integrating MoonPay’s infrastructure, users can now purchase WIDLY directly with credit cards, bank cards, or by converting fiat into stablecoins for investment. The system also supports redemption into fiat via stablecoin withdrawals, addressing a critical pain point in the Real World Asset (RWA) sector: the friction of moving money in and out of tokenized products.

This move signals a maturing convergence between traditional asset management and decentralized finance. WisdomTree, a legacy asset manager, is effectively positioning itself at the intersection of TradFi credibility and DeFi accessibility. MoonPay’s role as a payment gateway reduces the technical barrier for retail and institutional users alike, while LayerZero and Chainlink CCIP ensure that the fund’s tokenized shares can move across chains without compromising compliance or security.

Industry Implications: RWA’s Next Phase

The RWA narrative has gained significant traction in 2025, with tokenized treasury products and money market funds attracting billions in inflows. However, adoption has been constrained by clunky onboarding processes and limited liquidity pathways. WisdomTree’s approach tackles both issues head-on:

  • Fiat-to-token simplicity: Users can invest without managing complex wallet setups or crypto-native exchanges.
  • Cross-chain flexibility: LayerZero and Chainlink CCIP enable WIDLY to circulate beyond Ethereum, potentially increasing its utility as collateral or a settlement asset.
  • Regulatory alignment: The fund is US-compliant, offering a bridge for institutions wary of offshore or unregulated products.

This partnership also underscores a broader trend: traditional finance firms are no longer just experimenting with blockchain; they are building user-friendly rails to capture crypto-native capital. MoonPay’s existing user base and payment integrations give WisdomTree a distribution advantage that could accelerate WIDLY’s adoption.

Forward-Looking Perspective

If successful, this model could be replicated across other asset classes—tokenized equities, bonds, or even real estate—creating a seamless pipeline between fiat and on-chain assets. The key challenge will be maintaining compliance across jurisdictions while scaling liquidity. For now, WisdomTree and MoonPay are betting that reducing friction is the fastest route to mainstream RWA adoption. As tokenized funds become more accessible, the line between traditional and decentralized finance will blur further, with cross-chain protocols like LayerZero and Chainlink acting as the connective tissue.
