Xiaomi Releases Open-Source MiMo-V2.6 Model Family

Xiaomi's move matters less as a benchmark story than as a distribution story: an omni-modal flagship, a cost-efficient sibling, and a speed variant released together signal a vendor positioning across the whole inference spectrum rather than a single flagship. Open-sourcing the weights lowers the barrier for developers who would otherwise default to established Western or domestic alternatives, and the bundled desktop client extends that reach beyond API consumers. Whether the family gains genuine developer traction against entrenched ecosystems is the open question.
