Infosys Taps Chainlink to Bring 1.7 Billion Bank Accounts On-Chain

Infosys, which supports banking infrastructure for over 1.7 billion customer accounts, will standardize on Chainlink's CCIP, ACE, Proof of Reserve, and data services to give global financial institutions a compliant path into on-chain markets. The partnership signals that oracle and interoperability infrastructure is now being treated as production-grade plumbing for tokenized finance.

Infosys and Chainlink Forge Institutional On-Chain Finance Partnership

Infosys, the $40 billion global IT services giant listed on the NYSE, has announced a strategic partnership with Chainlink to accelerate institutional adoption of on-chain finance. The company, which currently supports banking and payment infrastructure for more than 1.7 billion customer accounts worldwide, will standardize on a suite of Chainlink technologies including the Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP), Chainlink Runtime Environment (CRE), Automated Compliance Engine (ACE), Proof of Reserve, Data Streams, and Data Feeds.

The collaboration is designed to give the world’s largest financial institutions a compliant, interoperable pathway into on-chain markets — a missing link that has kept much of traditional finance on the sidelines despite growing tokenization momentum.

Why This Matters: TradFi’s Missing Infrastructure Layer

Infosys is not a crypto-native firm. It is a systems integrator that runs core banking, payments, and compliance operations for many of the world’s largest banks. Its decision to standardize on Chainlink signals that the oracle and interoperability layer is being treated as production-grade infrastructure rather than an experimental add-on.

The inclusion of ACE and Proof of Reserve is particularly telling. ACE addresses the compliance and identity requirements that have historically blocked regulated institutions from interacting with public blockchains, while Proof of Reserve provides the verifiable collateral attestations needed for tokenized deposits, stablecoins, and real-world asset (RWA) products. Together with CCIP and Data Streams, the stack covers the full lifecycle: data ingestion, cross-chain settlement, compliance enforcement, and reserve transparency.

The RWA Tokenization Race Heats Up

Tokenized real-world assets have become one of the most competitive battlegrounds in crypto, with BlackRock, Franklin Templeton, JPMorgan, and a growing list of asset managers launching or piloting on-chain products. The bottleneck has not been demand — it has been plumbing. Institutions need auditable reserves, programmable compliance, and reliable cross-chain messaging before they can move meaningful volume on-chain.

By embedding Chainlink’s standards into Infosys’ delivery pipeline, the partnership could compress the integration timeline for banks that would otherwise spend years building bespoke solutions. That is a distribution advantage for Chainlink and a credibility boost for the broader RWA sector.

Forward-Looking: From Pilot to Production

The real test will be execution. Announcing a partnership is easy; deploying it across 1.7 billion accounts is not. Watch for concrete milestones: named banking clients, live tokenized products, and regulatory approvals in major jurisdictions. If Infosys can convert its traditional finance relationships into on-chain deployments, the partnership could mark a turning point where institutional blockchain adoption shifts from experimentation to standard operating procedure.
