Bitcoin Spot ETFs Extend Inflow Streak to Four Days With $715M Haul as BlackRock, Fidelity Lead

U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded $715 million in net inflows on September 22, the fourth straight day of positive flows, with BlackRock's IBIT and Fidelity's FBTC capturing the vast majority. The streak highlights persistent institutional demand even as concentration risk among top issuers remains a structural concern.

Bitcoin Spot ETFs Extend Inflow Streak to Four Days With $715M Haul

U.S. spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds pulled in a combined $715 million in net inflows on Monday, September 22, marking the fourth consecutive session of positive flows and reinforcing the view that institutional demand for regulated BTC exposure remains resilient despite choppy price action in the underlying asset.

BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) once again dominated the tape, attracting $350 million in a single day. The fund’s cumulative net inflows have now reached $648.56 billion — a figure that underscores its status as the gravitational center of the spot Bitcoin ETF complex. Fidelity’s Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund (FBTC) followed with $257 million, pushing its lifetime net inflows to $108.58 billion.

Concentration Risk Masks Broadening Demand

The headline number is impressive, but the distribution tells a more nuanced story. IBIT and FBTC together accounted for roughly 85% of Monday’s inflows, a concentration pattern that has persisted for much of the year. This raises a structural question: is the spot Bitcoin ETF market genuinely broadening, or is it simply a two-horse race with a long tail of also-rans?

For asset managers, the answer matters. Flows into smaller issuers — including those from VanEck, Bitwise, and Ark Invest — have been episodic, often spiking during periods of strong momentum and drying up during drawdowns. The persistent dominance of BlackRock and Fidelity suggests that brand recognition, distribution networks, and fee competitiveness remain decisive factors in capturing allocator capital.

What the Four-Day Streak Signals

A four-day inflow streak is not, by itself, a trend. But context matters. The streak has coincided with a period of macroeconomic uncertainty, including lingering questions about the path of Federal Reserve rate cuts and mixed signals from equity markets. That Bitcoin ETFs continue to absorb capital in this environment suggests that a subset of institutional investors is treating BTC as a portfolio diversifier rather than a pure risk-on proxy.

  • IBIT daily inflow: $350 million
  • FBTC daily inflow: $257 million
  • Combined daily total: $715 million
  • IBIT cumulative net inflow: $648.56 billion
  • FBTC cumulative net inflow: $108.58 billion

Forward-Looking Perspective

The sustainability of these inflows will depend on two variables: the trajectory of Bitcoin’s spot price and the evolution of the ETF product set itself. If issuers succeed in launching options-linked or yield-bearing Bitcoin ETF structures — a regulatory possibility that has been discussed but not yet approved — the addressable market could expand beyond directional buyers to include income-focused allocators.

For now, the four-day streak is a reminder that the spot Bitcoin ETF wrapper has fundamentally changed how institutions access the asset class. The question is no longer whether institutions will buy Bitcoin. It is how much, through which vehicles, and at what pace.
