TREE NEWS update: Guangdong’s Department of Natural Resources is soliciting public feedback on measures to accelerate redevelopment of low-efficiency land, encouraging rural collective economic organizations to undertake self-redevelopment. Under the plan, such organizations can redevelop land according to new planning uses, excluding commercial housing, with procedures for collective or state-owned land use. For land converted to state-owned for industrial purposes, the government may expropriate and then transfer it by agreement to the collective or its wholly-owned subsidiary.
