France’s 2027 budget plan may require major cuts, deficit could hit 6%

France’s Finance Minister Lescure warned that the 2027 budget draft, to be submitted by the end of the month, will need large-scale spending cuts to control a widening fiscal deficit amid weak global growth and rising interest rates. Without measures, the deficit could reach about 6% of GDP, versus the government’s target below 5%.
