Qwen App Offers Student, Teacher Discounts at 9.9 Yuan/Month

This pricing move signals a deliberate push to lock in younger, education-sector users early, a demographic often sticky with AI tools once habits form. By halving costs for six months, the strategy prioritizes adoption and usage data over near-term revenue, which could pressure competitors in the Chinese AI assistant space to respond with similar education-focused offers. The tie to specific features like PPT generation suggests a play for productivity use cases among students and teachers, where switching costs may rise over time. Whether the discounted cohort converts to full-price renewals post-promotion is the key metric to watch, as it will test the durability of this acquisition channel.
