Bitcoin’s Consolidation Far From Over: Analyst Sees 70% Odds of a $60K Cycle Bottom

Bitcoin's failed breakout above $82,500 signals the consolidation is far from over. Analyst Garrett Jin sees a 70% chance of a cycle bottom near $60,000, with key support at $76K–$77K and critical demand at $72K–$72.5K.

Bitcoin’s Consolidation Far From Over: Analyst Sees 70% Odds of a $60K Cycle Bottom

Bitcoin’s latest rally attempt failed to break through a key technical barrier last week, topping out near $82,300 before sliding back into its trading range. The consolidation phase is far from finished — and the market may not even be halfway through the entire corrective process. In his latest weekly note, Jin pegs the probability of a cycle bottom near $60,000 at roughly 70%.

Key Levels to Watch

Jin’s roadmap for Bitcoin hinges on whether spot demand can recover. The levels he flags:

  • $82,500 resistance: A decisive reclaim above this zone, backed by stronger spot buying, would open the door to the $83,000–$86,000 band as the next resistance corridor.
  • $76,000–$77,000 support: If spot demand stays weak, this is the first line of defense.
  • $74,000–$75,000: A break below the first support could trigger a rapid slide toward this zone.
  • $72,000–$72,500: The critical demand support — a level that, if lost, would likely cement the deeper correction scenario.

Why the Consolidation Isn’t Over

The failure to clear $82,500 is technically significant. Repeated rejections at a resistance level typically signal that sellers remain in control of the order book, while the absence of follow-through buying suggests spot participants are still waiting on the sidelines. Jin’s read — that the market hasn’t completed even half of its整理 process — implies that time, not just price, remains a key variable. Consolidations of this magnitude often resolve through extended sideways action that wears down leveraged positions before a trend resumes.

Macro conditions aren’t helping. With rate-cut expectations constantly shifting and risk assets broadly choppy, crypto has struggled to generate independent momentum. ETF flows have been inconsistent, and the derivatives market shows funding rates that oscillate between mildly positive and neutral — a sign that traders lack conviction in either direction.

What a $60K Bottom Would Mean

If Jin’s 70% probability proves correct, a retest of $60,000 would represent a roughly 25% drawdown from current levels — painful, but well within historical norms for a mid-cycle correction. It would also likely reset speculative excess, flush out weak hands, and set up the next accumulation phase for long-term holders. The key question for investors is whether such a move would be a buying opportunity or a warning sign of a deeper bear phase. Historically, cycle bottoms have been accompanied by capitulation volume, negative funding rates, and widespread pessimism — conditions not yet fully present.

The Road Ahead

For now, traders should watch $76,000–$77,000 closely. A hold there keeps the bullish structure intact and raises the odds of a range-bound resolution. A break lower, however, would shift focus rapidly to the $72,000–$72,500 zone, where the market’s next major decision will be made. Until spot demand meaningfully returns, Bitcoin’s path of least resistance remains sideways — with a meaningful tail risk pointing lower.
