Pendle’s Quiet 92% Rally: How a Yield-Splitting Protocol Became Crypto’s RWA Trading Floor

PENDLE has gained 91.8% in a month, largely unnoticed amid the broader old-coin rally. The protocol's yield-splitting model now spans tokenized money market funds, private infrastructure and equity dividends — with 80% of fees funding open-market buybacks that have already repurchased 1.6% of circulating supply.

Pendle’s Quiet 92% Rally: How a Yield-Splitting Protocol Became Crypto’s RWA Trading Floor

While market attention has focused on ZEC, NEAR and UNI during the recent “old coin” rebound, PENDLE has quietly posted a 91.8% gain over the past month. The protocol’s rise reflects a structural advantage: it doesn’t need to predict which narrative wins — it simply needs new yield sources to emerge, then turns them into tradeable markets.

The Yield Exchange Model

Pendle’s core mechanism splits any yield-bearing asset into two components: PT (principal tokens, bought at a discount and redeemed at par) and YT (yield tokens, capturing all interest, points or dividends until maturity). This structure has proven portable across cycles — from LSD staking rewards to airdrop points, and now to RWA cash flows.

The protocol’s recent shelf expansion tells the story of where capital is flowing:

  • AMCASH+: A tokenized money market fund backed 1:1 by ChinaAMC’s USD digital money market fund, which held roughly $603 million in assets under management as of late July. Pendle now lets users lock in this fund’s yield or trade future interest rate expectations.
  • NGI+: Launched September 16 by tokenization infrastructure platform Asseto, this product offers on-chain exposure to Partners Group’s next-generation infrastructure strategy — data centers, power grids, energy and transportation assets. Pendle built PT, YT and liquidity markets around it.
  • Tokenized equity dividends: On Robinhood Chain, Pendle has opened dividend markets for tokenized Nvidia and Pfizer shares. Robinhood has issued over 190 stock tokens, and Pendle lets holders trade the dividend stream separately from the equity itself.

Buybacks Turn Narrative Into Token Demand

Unlike many DeFi protocols where product growth fails to translate into token value, Pendle has shortened the feedback loop. After replacing vePENDLE with sPENDLE, the protocol collects 5% of YT-accrued yield and points, plus trading fees on PT/YT swaps. Of the remainder after LP rewards, 80% goes to open-market PENDLE buybacks, with 10% each to the treasury and operations.

The numbers are verifiable: roughly seven months after sPENDLE launched, the protocol had repurchased over 2.8 million PENDLE for approximately $4 million, distributing all bought tokens to sPENDLE stakers. Against a circulating supply of about 173.6 million, that’s 1.6% of float. Emissions have fallen 78% year-to-date, bringing annualized inflation to roughly 0.5% — meaning buybacks are running at more than three times net new supply.

Why It Matters

Pendle has effectively become a real-time dashboard for where yield-seeking capital is moving. When a new narrative appears on its market list, it signals that a story has graduated from social media chatter to actual capital pricing. The shift toward RWA cash flows — money market interest, infrastructure returns, corporate dividends — also changes the duration profile of Pendle’s revenue, replacing boom-bust crypto incentives with longer-dated, off-chain cash flows.

As the market hunts for the next RWA token, Pendle’s quiet accumulation of fee-generating markets and its buyback flywheel may prove the more durable trade.
