Chinese Academy of Sciences Launches Frontier Science Breakthrough Program

TREE NEWS update: The Chinese Academy of Sciences announced the launch of its “Scientific Frontier Extreme Breakthrough Program” and its first batch of projects at a press conference in Beijing. The 10 initial projects target frontier questions in four “extreme” fields, including new element synthesis, the nature of dark matter and dark energy, microscopic measurement of chemical bonds, and artificial synthesis of cells. The program also introduces a series of key reforms to how research projects are managed and evaluated.
