TREE NEWS update: A magnitude 4.8 earthquake struck northeastern Chiba Prefecture at about 4:13 a.m. local time on the 8th (3:13 a.m. Beijing time), Japan’s Meteorological Agency said. The epicenter was at 35.7 degrees north latitude and 140.7 degrees east longitude, with a depth of about 50 kilometers. Tremors were felt in the capital, Tokyo, and the agency said there is no risk of a tsunami.
