TREE NEWS update: Portugal secured a €1.5 billion ($1.74 billion) loan from the European Investment Bank to expand affordable housing supply amid a severe cost-of-living crisis. The funds will support construction and renovation of about 50,000 social homes nationwide for residents in poor conditions who cannot afford adequate housing. The housing ministry said the goal is to improve living conditions for vulnerable families and increase public housing stock.
