TREE NEWS reports: Japan’s nominal wages rose 4.7% year-on-year in July, the largest increase since 1997, driven by strong corporate profits and a tight labor market. The gain, which exceeded the 3.8% expected by economists, follows a revised 4% rise in June. Real wages, adjusted for inflation excluding rent, grew 2.4%, the biggest jump in about five years, supporting expectations for a Bank of Japan rate hike next week.
