German July Exports Fall Unexpectedly, First Drop Since January

German exports unexpectedly fell 0.8% in July from the previous month, marking the first decline since January and ending a five-month growth streak. The drop, driven by reduced shipments to EU countries, dashed hopes for a rapid recovery in Europe’s largest economy. Despite this, the Bundesbank president still expects 1% growth this year, double the previous forecast.
