Vy Capital Holds About 3.4% Stake in SpaceX, Valued at Roughly $40 Billion, Becoming Fifth-Largest Shareholder

Venture capital firm Vy Capital currently holds about a 3.4% stake in SpaceX, valued at roughly $40 billion, making it SpaceX’s fifth-largest shareholder, with a holding larger than the disclosed positions of Sequoia Capital and a16z. Vy Capital first invested in SpaceX in 2016, when the company was valued at about $15 billion. The firm’s assets under management have grown from $27 billion at the end of last year to $50 billion as of June this year, and it says it has delivered a total internal rate of return of 41% since its founding in 2014, having distributed $4.6 billion to investors.
