TREE NEWS update: Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Heorhiy Tykhyi said on the 16th that Kyiv and Washington are preparing a meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and US President Donald Trump. He said the two teams are working out the possibility and the content of the presidential meeting, with the aim of making it “as substantive as possible.”

The significance here is less the meeting itself than the fact that both teams are negotiating its content in advance — a signal that Washington and Kyiv are trying to structure the agenda rather than let it be shaped by events. Whether the preparatory talks produce a substantive agenda, or the meeting remains aspirational, is the open question.
