Roche's entry into the incretin space matters less for the mechanism than for the competitive set: a dual GLP-1/GIP agonist clearing Phase II on both primary endpoints puts another large-cap player alongside the incumbents that have defined this class. The Phase III glycemic control and cardiovascular outcomes programs, both slated for the first half of 2027, are the real gate — cardiovascular data in particular has become the price of admission for this drug class. Whether Roche can differentiate on tolerability or dosing, rather than simply arrive, is the open question.
