Verizon Adds $50M to AI Skills Training Program, Total Reaches $70M

The scale of Verizon's commitment matters less than the roster of partners it has assembled: IBM, Google, Microsoft, Anthropic, Coursera and OpenAI. That is a rare coalition spanning cloud, models and courseware, and it positions a telecom as a broker of AI literacy rather than a vendor. The free-to-learner structure also sidesteps the paywall problem that has limited many corporate training efforts. Whether such consortia produce durable skills pipelines, or simply brand alignment, is the open question.
