Beijing backs AI audiovisual models with up to 3M yuan per project

This is a demand-side subsidy aimed at a specific vertical, not general AI funding: the money targets broadcast-grade tooling such as virtual production, restoration and dubbing, where Chinese studios have competed for state-linked contracts. It matters most to domestic model developers and content vendors positioned to bid, and less to open, globally distributed AI stacks. Whether this municipal framework becomes a template other provinces copy — and whether the merit-based awards favour incumbents — is the open question worth watching.
