SOL Treasury Firm SKYA Moves 468,000 SOL in One Day, Sparking Sell-Off Fears

SKYA, a Nasdaq-listed Solana treasury company, transferred 468,000 SOL (about $51.1 million) in one day, with 218,000 SOL sent to centralized exchanges and 250,000 SOL to BitGo. The move raises questions about whether the firm is selling down a reserve that exceeded 2 million SOL in September.

SKYA Transfers 468,000 SOL Worth $51.1 Million in 24 Hours

Nasdaq-listed Solana treasury company SKYA (formerly Sharps Technology) moved 468,000 SOL — roughly $51.1 million — out of its associated addresses over a single day, on-chain tracking shows. Of that total, 218,000 SOL was routed to multiple centralized exchanges, while 250,000 SOL was sent to institutional custody and prime services platform BitGo.

The transaction pattern is consistent with a treasury company preparing to sell, or already selling, a portion of its Solana reserve. SKYA disclosed holdings of more than 2 million SOL in a filing dated September 14, meaning the transferred tokens represent a meaningful slice of its balance sheet.

Why a Treasury Company’s Wallet Moves Matter

Digital asset treasury (DAT) companies have become a defining feature of this cycle. Modeled on the corporate Bitcoin playbook, firms like SKYA raise capital through equity or convertibles and convert the proceeds into a single large-cap token, presenting themselves to shareholders as leveraged proxies for that asset.

That structure cuts both ways. When the underlying token rises, the treasury appreciates and the equity can trade at a premium to net asset value, enabling further accretive issuance. When the token falls — or when the company’s share price drops below NAV — the flywheel reverses. Selling reserves to fund operations, service debt, or buy back stock becomes a rational, if uncomfortable, move.

  • Exchange inflows typically precede sales, since CEX deposits are the fastest route to fiat or stablecoin liquidity.
  • BitGo transfers are more ambiguous — the platform provides qualified custody, but also trading and settlement services, so coins sent there may be held, lent, or sold.
  • Disclosure lag is the key risk: holders often learn about treasury drawdowns only after the fact, via on-chain forensics rather than company filings.

Solana’s Treasury Cohort Under Scrutiny

SKYA is one of several listed vehicles that accumulated SOL this year, betting that Solana’s high-throughput, low-fee design would win institutional adoption in payments, DeFi and consumer applications. Those bets have been volatile. Solana’s price swings, combined with thin liquidity in the shares of smaller treasury companies, can turn a modest token drawdown into a sharp equity decline.

The optics of moving nearly a quarter of a disclosed 2 million SOL position in a single day — with more than 40% of the outflow landing on exchanges — will not go unnoticed by shareholders or by the analysts who track DAT premiums and discounts.

What to Watch Next

Three signals matter from here. First, whether SKYA files an 8-K or updates its treasury disclosure to confirm a sale, a custody migration, or a collateral arrangement. Second, whether the exchange-bound SOL is followed by visible spot selling pressure or is absorbed by market makers. Third, whether other SOL treasury vehicles show similar wallet activity, which would suggest a cohort-wide de-risking rather than an isolated corporate decision.

For now, the on-chain record says only that the coins moved. Whether SKYA is trimming risk, funding buybacks, or repositioning custody, the market will treat the transfer as a test of how much confidence remains in the leveraged-treasury model for altcoins.
