HYPE Spot ETFs Record Net Outflow of $9.43 Million
TREE NEWS reports: During the trading week of October 5–9, HYPE spot ETFs experienced a net outflow of $9.4269 million. The outflow was led by 21Shares ETF THYP, which saw $12.4103 million exit the fund, even as its cumulative net inflow since inception remains positive at $42.44 million.
In contrast, the Grayscale Hyperliquid Staking ETF (HYPG) attracted $1.9517 million in net inflows, bringing its total historical net inflow to $155 million. The divergence highlights a growing preference for yield-bearing products amid a broader risk-off sentiment in the crypto market.
Industry Analysis: Staking ETFs Gain Traction
The contrasting flows between THYP and HYPG underscore a key trend in the digital asset space: investors are increasingly favoring ETFs that offer staking rewards. Grayscale’s HYPG, which provides exposure to HYPE while participating in network staking, has now amassed $155 million in cumulative inflows, signaling robust demand for yield-enhanced crypto products.
Meanwhile, the outflow from 21Shares’ THYP may reflect profit-taking or a rotation into more attractive alternatives. The broader HYPE ETF category remains small relative to Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs, but the weekly volatility suggests that investor sentiment is still fragile.
Forward-Looking Perspective
As the crypto market matures, the performance of niche ETFs like those tied to HYPE will be closely watched. The success of staking-enabled funds could prompt more issuers to incorporate yield features, potentially reshaping the ETF landscape. However, regulatory clarity around staking in ETFs remains a hurdle, especially in the U.S. where the SEC has yet to fully endorse such products.
For now, the HYPE ETF flows serve as a barometer for risk appetite in the altcoin sector. If outflows persist, it may signal a prolonged consolidation phase for HYPE and similar tokens. Conversely, continued inflows into HYPG could indicate that investors are willing to take on additional risk for yield, even in a choppy market.
