BNB Chain Opens Forum for NewL1, a Sub-50ms, 100k TPS Layer 1 With No New Token
TREE NEWS reports: BNB Chain has launched a dedicated community forum section for NewL1, a new EVM-compatible Layer 1 network aimed at trading, payments, and AI use cases, including autonomous transactions by AI agents. The forum went live in July 2026 and was promoted again on October 17 and 19. The testnet is expected to launch by the end of 2026.
NewL1 targets pre-confirmation latency under 50 milliseconds, throughput above 100,000 transactions per second, and sub-second finality. Crucially, the network will not issue a new token; BNB remains the sole gas token. The design introduces a TxStream structure to reduce front-running risk, adds privacy-enhancing features, and includes a native bridge connecting to BSC.
Why a Second Chain?
BNB Chain already operates BSC, one of the largest smart-contract networks by activity. A new Layer 1 suggests a modular split: BSC as the general-purpose DeFi hub, and NewL1 as a high-performance execution environment tuned for latency-sensitive workloads such as order-book trading, micropayments, and machine-to-machine settlement. The explicit focus on AI agents is notable — autonomous agents need fast, cheap, and predictable confirmation to operate reliably on-chain.
The decision to keep BNB as the only gas token avoids fragmenting liquidity and tokenholder value across two assets. It also sidesteps the regulatory and community friction that often accompanies new token launches. Instead, value accrual is tied to network usage of BNB itself.
Technical and Governance Signals
The forum is framed as a technical discussion venue covering tokenomics, consensus protocols, and privacy. Price speculation is explicitly banned. That is a deliberate signal: BNB Chain wants serious research input rather than hype, particularly on consensus design and privacy, which are the hardest problems for a high-throughput chain.
- TxStream: a mempool/ordering structure intended to mitigate MEV and front-running.
- Privacy features: details remain sparse, but privacy at 100k TPS is a significant engineering challenge.
- Native BSC bridge: essential for bootstrapping liquidity and users from the existing ecosystem.
Forward-Looking
The end-2026 testnet timeline gives BNB Chain roughly a year to validate its performance claims under real load. The key risks are whether sub-50ms pre-confirmations hold under adversarial conditions, whether privacy features can coexist with high throughput, and whether developers migrate from BSC without splitting liquidity. If NewL1 delivers, it could position BNB Chain as infrastructure for the emerging agentic economy — but the burden of proof is on benchmarks, not forum posts.
