Securitize Closes $521.75M Round Backed by ARK, Jump and BlackRock
Securitize, the infrastructure provider powering on-chain issuance and secondary trading of tokenized securities, has completed a funding round totaling $521.75 million, with participation from ARK Invest, Jump Crypto and BlackRock. The raise cements Securitize’s position as one of the central plumbing layers connecting traditional capital markets to public blockchains — and arrives as tokenized real-world assets (RWAs) shift from pilot programs into production-scale deployment.
Why the Raise Matters
Securitize is not a single-product company. It operates a registered transfer agent, a broker-dealer, an alternative trading system (ATS), and tokenization rails that let issuers mint compliant digital representations of funds, private credit, and equity on-chain. That vertically integrated stack is precisely what institutional issuers need: legal wrappers, investor onboarding (KYC/AML), and a secondary market venue that regulators recognize.
The involvement of BlackRock is notable. The asset manager’s BUIDL fund, a tokenized money market vehicle, runs on Securitize’s rails and has become a benchmark for how large managers approach on-chain cash management. ARK’s participation signals continued conviction in the convergence of ETFs, tokenization, and 24/7 settlement. Jump Crypto’s presence points to expectations around liquidity provisioning and market-making for tokenized instruments.
The Broader RWA Trajectory
Tokenized treasuries, private credit and money-market funds have collectively crossed tens of billions in on-chain value, with growth driven less by crypto-native speculation than by TradFi demand for collateral mobility and programmable settlement. Stablecoins remain the largest RWA category by far, but securities tokenization is now the fastest-growing segment.
- Collateral efficiency: Tokenized securities can be pledged, lent and reused across DeFi and TradFi venues, unlocking capital that today sits idle in settlement limbo.
- Global distribution: Issuers can reach non-US investors through compliant digital channels without building local infrastructure.
- Operational savings: T+0 settlement, automated corporate actions, and transparent cap tables reduce back-office costs.
Forward-Looking Perspective
The next 12–18 months will test whether tokenized securities can scale beyond closed ecosystems. Key milestones include broader ATS approvals, clearer SEC guidance on tokenized fund shares, and interoperability standards that let tokens move across chains without fragmenting liquidity. Securitize’s war chest suggests it intends to consolidate the market before competitors do. If it succeeds, the line between a brokerage account and a crypto wallet may effectively disappear — and the $521 million will look cheap.
