Grayscale’s HYPE Staking ETF Draws $3.37M as Hyperliquid ETP Assets Near $478M

Grayscale’s Hyperliquid Staking ETF (ticker HYPG) recorded a single-day net inflow of $3.37 million on October 2, the only HYPE spot ETF to see positive flows that session. Cumulative inflows into HYPG since launch now stand at $153 million, while total net assets across all HYPE spot ETFs have reached $478 million, with a net asset ratio of 2.48% and lifetime cumulative inflows of $346 million.

Why the Flow Matters

Hyperliquid has become one of the most closely watched venues in decentralized derivatives, combining an on-chain order book with a staking-backed token model. The fact that a single issuer now commands the entire daily inflow suggests institutional access to HYPE is still narrow — a classic early-stage pattern seen with Bitcoin and Ethereum ETPs before multiple providers entered the market.

The 2.48% net asset ratio is a useful lens: it implies ETFs hold a small but non-trivial share of HYPE’s circulating supply. As that ratio climbs, the ETF wrapper begins to matter for price discovery, liquidity depth and the token’s effective free float.

Staking Is the Differentiator

Unlike plain-vanilla spot products, HYPG is a staking ETF. That structure lets the fund pass through staking economics to shareholders — a feature that has become a key competitive axis for altcoin ETPs in the U.S. after regulators opened the door to staking within exchange-traded vehicles. For investors, it converts a passive holding into a yield-bearing position, though it also introduces validator, slashing and operational risks that traditional spot ETFs do not carry.

What to Watch

  • Issuer competition: If additional providers file for HYPE ETFs, daily flows will likely spread across products, compressing fees and accelerating AUM growth.
  • Net asset ratio trajectory: A sustained move above 3–4% would signal deepening institutional ownership and could tighten available supply.
  • Hyperliquid fundamentals: Perpetuals volume, fee capture and buyback/burn mechanics ultimately anchor the ETF thesis more than flow data alone.
  • Regulatory posture: Any shift in how staking ETFs are treated would directly affect HYPG’s value proposition versus non-staking peers.

The broader takeaway is that altcoin ETF flows are no longer a Bitcoin-only story. Hyperliquid’s inclusion in the ETP complex marks another step in the maturation of on-chain derivatives infrastructure into a mainstream, institutionally accessible asset class.
