Shanghai sets 2026 deadline to start urban village renovation

TREE NEWS update: Shanghai’s housing authority issued the 15th Five-Year Plan for housing and urban-rural development, targeting full launch of urban village renovation projects and completion of improvement works by end-2026. By 2027, preliminary renovations of all such projects should be done. The plan also aims to complete renovation of about 20,000 sqm of small-beam and thin-slab housing by end-2026, and basically finish converting non-self-contained worker housing by 2030.
