Chinese sodium-ion battery firms accelerate overseas expansion

Chinese sodium-ion battery makers are accelerating overseas expansion, shifting from product sales to ecosystem building. On Sept 2, Zhongke Haina signed a strategic agreement with South Korea’s VOLTA to advance a 5-year, 10GWh supply deal following a 15MWh storage project. Recent months saw CATL land a European GWh-order, Xingkong Na-Dian form a JV with Germany’s豪雅集团, and Camel Group secure European automaker contracts. Since Sept 1, sodium-ion batteries have a dedicated customs code, boosting exports.
