TREE NEWS update: Argentine Foreign Minister Pablo Quirno on the evening of the 5th criticized the British government for refusing to negotiate over sovereignty of the Malvinas Islands, known in the UK as the Falklands. Speaking at an event marking the 48th anniversary of the Argentine Council for International Relations, Quirno reaffirmed Argentina’s claim to the islands and accused the UK of unilateral actions that “harm Argentina’s non-renewable resources.” British Ambassador to Argentina David Cairns left the venue after Quirno’s remarks.
