US Treasury’s Buyback Expansion: A Signal Toward QE?

The US Treasury expanded its long-dated bond buyback program, raising maximum sizes to at least $4B, which markets interpreted as a signal of potential intervention to cap rising long-term yields. Analysts view this as a ‘Bessent Put’ but note it’s not QE or YCC yet, as the move is small and conditions must worsen significantly before such measures are adopted.
