Shennan Circuits Q3 Revenue Jumps 66% on AI-Driven High-End PCB Demand

Shennan Circuits reported Q3 revenue up 66% and net profit up 94%, fueled by AI infrastructure demand. While core operations remain strong, rising working capital and debt raise cash flow concerns.

Shennan Circuits Posts Blowout Q3 as AI Infrastructure Spending Accelerates

Shennan Circuits, a Chinese manufacturer of high-end printed circuit boards (PCBs), reported third-quarter revenue of 10.478 billion yuan, up 66.29% year-over-year, and net profit attributable to shareholders of 1.878 billion yuan, a 94.42% increase. For the first nine months, revenue rose 53.84% to 25.774 billion yuan, while net profit climbed 77.54% to 4.129 billion yuan. The company attributed the strong growth to surging demand for high-end PCBs used in AI servers, data centers, and high-speed communications infrastructure.

Profit Quality and Operational Efficiency

Excluding non-recurring items, net profit rose 87.80% to 4.098 billion yuan, indicating that core operations drove the performance. Gross margin improved as cost of goods sold grew 44.47%, slower than revenue. However, operating cash flow fell 15.36% to 1.959 billion yuan, diverging from net profit growth. This was largely due to a 72.53% increase in accounts receivable to 9.058 billion yuan and an 88.72% jump in inventory to 9.699 billion yuan, both growing faster than revenue. The company also saw a sharp rise in financial expenses, up 800.66% to 299 million yuan, partly due to foreign exchange fluctuations, and a 64.94% increase in management expenses, including share-based compensation.

Capital Expenditure and Financing

Shennan Circuits is aggressively expanding capacity. Construction in progress surged 150.17% to 4.630 billion yuan, and other non-current assets rose 383.67% to 2.426 billion yuan, reflecting prepayments for equipment and construction. The company is building facilities in Wuxi, Nantong, and Guangzhou to meet future demand. To fund this expansion, short-term borrowings skyrocketed to 1.306 billion yuan, up 8,600%, while long-term borrowings increased 164.48% to 7.086 billion yuan. The company also plans a private placement of up to 4.367 billion yuan, which passed Shenzhen Stock Exchange review on October 14, to fund its Wuxi AI computing PCB project and supplement working capital.

Market Implications

The results underscore the robust demand for AI infrastructure, which has been a key driver for technology hardware suppliers. Shennan Circuits’ performance could positively influence sentiment toward the PCB and semiconductor supply chain, particularly companies exposed to AI server and data center buildouts. However, the sharp increase in working capital and debt raises questions about cash flow management and financial risk. Investors should monitor inventory turnover and receivables collection, as well as the progress of capacity expansion and the private placement. The broader AI infrastructure theme remains strong, but execution risks and rising leverage warrant caution.

Key Takeaways

  • Q3 revenue and net profit surged 66% and 94% respectively, driven by AI-related high-end PCB demand.
  • Core profitability improved, but operating cash flow declined due to higher receivables and inventory.
  • Aggressive capex and borrowing could strain finances if demand slows or collection issues arise.
  • Investors should watch for cash flow trends, capacity utilization, and the completion of the private placement.
