Apple Partners with Alibaba for China AI Model

The tie-up matters less as a product feature than as a template: Apple's own model alone could not clear Chinese regulatory and market hurdles, so a local partner becomes the delivery mechanism. That puts Alibaba in a gatekeeper role over a premium foreign device experience, and gives Beijing another lever over how global AI reaches Chinese users. The open question is whether this becomes the default structure for other foreign platforms, or stays a China-specific workaround.
