Ex-ministry official: China’s future industries to center on AI, green, computing

TREE NEWS update: Li Meng, former vice minister of science and technology, said at the 2026 Xiamen conference that China’s future industries will emerge mainly in six areas: AI, green low-carbon, healthy living, high-end manufacturing, computing connectivity, and secure development. The former official noted that AI and green transformation will drive economic and social progress, with the latter three areas providing support. The remarks were made on September 6 at an event in Xiamen.
