Bitwise and Vise Bring Diversified Crypto Model Portfolios to 135,000+ Wealth Accounts

Bitwise and Vise are launching core and thematic crypto model portfolios across more than 135,000 accounts on Vise's platform, integrating digital assets directly into traditional rebalancing and tax management workflows. The move signals crypto's absorption into mainstream portfolio construction as third-party model portfolio assets surge 135%.

Bitwise and Vise Bring Diversified Crypto Model Portfolios to 135,000+ Wealth Accounts

Bitwise Asset Management has partnered with wealth management technology platform Vise to roll out diversified crypto model portfolios across hundreds of advisory firms and more than 135,000 accounts. Vise, which oversees over $140 billion in assets on its platform, will integrate the strategies directly into advisors’ existing portfolio workflows.

A Structural Shift in How Advisors Allocate to Crypto

The offering is split into two categories. “Core” portfolios provide broad exposure to the crypto ecosystem, while “Thematic” portfolios let investors target specific narratives. Crucially, the strategies are not managed in isolation: they sit alongside clients’ equities, fixed income, and alternative assets inside a single portfolio, rebalanced and tax-managed on the same schedule.

That integration matters more than the headline account count. For years, crypto exposure in wealth management was bolted on as a standalone sleeve, often outside the rebalancing and tax-loss harvesting machinery that governs the rest of a client’s assets. Folding digital assets into the same optimization engine removes operational friction and makes crypto a first-class portfolio component rather than a satellite bet.

The Model Portfolio Channel Is Scaling Fast

The timing reflects a broader trend. Assets tracking third-party model portfolios grew from $400 billion to more than $930 billion between 2023 and 2026, a 135% increase. Model portfolios have become the primary vehicle through which independent advisors outsource asset allocation, and crypto managers are now competing for shelf space in that channel.

  • Distribution advantage: reaching 135,000 accounts through a single platform integration is far more capital-efficient than firm-by-firm onboarding.
  • Tax efficiency: unified rebalancing allows crypto gains and losses to be managed alongside traditional holdings.
  • Advisor comfort: model portfolios shift the due-diligence burden to the asset manager, lowering the barrier for advisors who lack crypto expertise.

What to Watch

The key questions are allocation sizing and adoption speed. Model portfolios typically recommend modest crypto weights, so near-term flows may be gradual. But the strategic significance is that crypto is being absorbed into mainstream portfolio construction infrastructure rather than remaining a separate asset class with separate rules. If the model-portfolio channel continues compounding at its current pace, integrated crypto sleeves could become a default option for a large share of advised assets within a few years. That would mark a durable structural change in how retail wealth accesses digital assets, independent of any single market cycle.
