Paid Launches Web Claim Portal as X Money Payments Remain Suspended

Paid has launched a web claim portal for newly accrued fees, paid mostly in SOL, while X Money payments remain suspended. Historical balances are being preserved separately as the team develops a dedicated claim solution.

Paid Opens Web Claim Portal, X Money Payouts Still on Hold

Paid has activated a web-based claim portal allowing eligible users to collect newly accrued fees. Assets will be distributed in the quote asset tied to each fee — in most cases SOL — marking a practical step forward for the project’s payout infrastructure even as its X Money payment channel remains offline.

The team said additional claim methods are in development, including claiming via direct message or by tagging the official account in a post. Meanwhile, X Money payments stay paused with no confirmed restart date. Historical balances accrued through that channel will be preserved separately, and the team is building a dedicated claim solution for those funds.

Why the Split Matters

The dual-track approach — a live web portal for new fees, a separate process for legacy balances — reflects a common pattern in early-stage crypto projects: payment rails can break or be paused, but on-chain or web-based distribution can keep working independently.

  • Asset denomination: Distributing fees in the quote asset (mostly SOL) avoids forced conversions and keeps payouts aligned with how fees were originally generated.
  • Channel diversification: Adding DM and social-tag claims reduces reliance on any single platform, a hedge against the kind of disruption that has stalled X Money.
  • Balance preservation: Ring-fencing historical balances signals the team intends to honor obligations rather than write them off.

Industry Implications

Paid’s situation highlights a broader tension in crypto: social platforms increasingly serve as distribution and payment layers, but they remain centralized chokepoints. When a payment feature pauses, projects must fall back on their own web infrastructure. That is exactly what Paid is doing, and it is a reminder that resilient token distribution should never depend solely on a third-party platform’s uptime.

The choice of SOL as the primary payout asset also matters. Solana’s low fees and fast finality make it a natural fit for frequent, small-denomination fee distributions — a growing use case as more apps route micro-payments to users.

What to Watch

Three things will determine how this plays out. First, whether the legacy balance claim solution ships on schedule and covers all affected users. Second, whether X Money payments resume, and under what conditions. Third, whether alternative claim methods — DM and social tagging — introduce friction or security risks such as impersonation and phishing.

For now, the web portal gives users a concrete way to access new fees. But until the historical balances are claimable and X Money is restored, Paid’s payout system remains only partially whole.
