Ansem: Strong Altcoins Will Keep Emerging in This Bull Cycle—Trade Less, Rotate Smarter

Crypto trader Ansem argues that overtrading and watching 15-minute candles hurt long-term returns, and that altcoin leadership typically lasts four to six months before rotating. He suggests separating spot, futures, and on-chain accounts, rotating profits into phase-leading assets, and staying open to fundamentals-driven institutional buying this cycle.

Why Traders Should Stop Staring at 15-Minute Charts

Crypto trader Ansem published a detailed market framework arguing that the biggest threat to long-term returns in a bull market is not volatility but overtrading. Watching 15-minute candles and trying to capture every local top and bottom, he warned, degrades decision quality and erodes portfolio performance. Instead, investors should separate accounts by risk profile—spot holdings, perpetual futures, and high-risk on-chain positions—so that a loss in one bucket does not contaminate the others.

Altcoin Cycles Run Faster—But Fundamentals May Matter This Time

Historical bull markets show that altcoin leadership tends to be short-lived. A dominant altcoin often outperforms the market for roughly four to six months before a new leader emerges, particularly after a token has delivered a 10x or greater market-cap gain. In past cycles, altcoins peaked mainly because attention shifted and upward momentum faded.

This cycle, however, may contain exceptions. Ansem noted that some altcoins could see revenue and other fundamentals improve materially alongside price appreciation. If that happens, institutional capital may keep buying rather than rotating out, forcing investors to update prior assumptions based on new information.

Timing the Cycle: Only Month Four?

Ansem observed that in the previous cycle, Bitcoin bottomed in January 2023 and topped around October 2025—an uptrend lasting roughly 33 months. If the current cycle bottomed in July, the market would be only about four months into its expansion. That perspective implies a longer runway than many traders assume, and it supports the idea that multiple “mini bull markets” led by specific altcoins will continue to appear.

Strategy: Identify Strength and Compound Winners

  • Trade less: Avoid reacting to every short-term candle and focus on trend duration.
  • Compartmentalize risk: Keep spot, futures, and on-chain speculative accounts separate.
  • Rotate into strength: Identify phase-leading assets and reinvest profits into outperformers.
  • Stay flexible: If revenue and fundamentals genuinely change, adjust your thesis rather than anchoring to old cycle patterns.

Forward-Looking Perspective

The core message is that bull-market alpha comes from recognizing which assets are leading each phase and compounding gains, not from chasing every wiggle. If institutional flows increasingly respond to real revenue growth in altcoin protocols, the old playbook of pure attention-driven rotation may partially break down. Investors who combine patience with disciplined rotation—and who treat fundamentals as a live input rather than a static narrative—are likely to capture the excess returns that Ansem argues are still available in this cycle.
